Mobile Number Portability allows you to switch your telecom operator while keeping the same mobile number. Whether you want to move from Vi to Jio, Airtel to BSNL, or any other switch – the MNP process is simple and can be done online.
MNP Process – Step by Step
- Generate UPC Code – Send SMS:
PORT <your 10-digit number>to 1900 - You will receive a Unique Porting Code (UPC) via SMS
- Visit the new operator’s store, website, or app
- Apply for a new SIM with MNP option
- Submit your UPC code, Aadhaar, and photo
- New SIM is activated within 3-7 working days
- Old SIM stops working once porting is complete

Important MNP Rules
- UPC code is valid for 4 days only – apply before it expires
- Your number must be at least 90 days old with current operator
- No pending dues or contractual obligations
- Number should not be corporate/bulk connection
- Porting is free – no charges from old or new operator
